Sterling first found an interest in photography in his childhood where he produced and published over fifty animated stop-motion videos online. In his teen years, as a skateboarder, film and motion became an obsession where he carried his camera everywhere, documenting everything in his path. Determined to pursue a career in film-production, he studied English and Documentary Studies at the University of Utah. While a student, he worked as a cameraman for PBS Utah and picked up any freelancing opportunities he could, filming documentaries, photographing weddings, and acting in commercials. Personal projects of Sterling’s involve multiple photographic mediums including thirty-five millimeter, medium-format, and motion-picture-film, which have been featured in Utah galleries. He’s traveled between six continents, photographing and finding local acceptance all the way from the Amazon Jungle to the streets of Saigon. Creative idols of Sterlings include Greg Girard, William Finnegan, and Joseph Campbell.
